RECOMMENDED AFTER CANOEING

For those wishing to discover the great nightlife in the forest, visitors will witness see the rainforest wake up again when the nocturnal creatures begin to emerge. The guide will explain the unusual sounds while teaching them the variety of insects, reptiles, birds, bats and mammals that inhabit the forest at night, among the species can be observed are sleeping birds, tarantulas, spiders, hopes, crickets, lizards, frogs, porcupines, olingos, snakes, insects, armadillos, reptiles and hopefully can find a sloth sleeping. Of course there is no guarantee, then this alert.

Ready to see poison frogs and a wonderful view of Tortuguero lowlands and discover the giants of the forest? so this is the chance!!! Begin this tour in Tortuguero village, we will take a boat trip 15 minutes till the neighboring village (San Francisco) we will walk around the hill foot till reach up the TOP, an altitude of 119 meter, this hill is an inactive volcano that offers a wonderful beautiful view from the peak point.

RECOMMENDED AFTER CANOEING

(Only during the green turtle season June 15th to Octuber 31st)

This tour is developed to observe the nesting process of the sea turtles, accompanied by a local guide who explains the process or actions that are taking place in the world of the sea turtle during their nesting season (July – August) . You will wait in a certain section out of the beach while you wait for the spotters, normally spotter direct the groups to a particular spot on the beach to see a sea turtle on the beach and you are allowed to watch laying eggs, nest camouflage, and their return to the sea. Without doubt this is one of the most special experiences while admiring the effort of one of the most long-lived species of the planet to ensure their survival (spotter program was implemented in order to reduce the stress and impact to the turtles during the tour, this was suggested by STC, this institution was established since 1958 by Archie Carr, to study, to understand and to help sea turtles)

Cacao Tour is indoors in Casa Cecropia. You will learn about the cocoa natural history, the artisanal process of harvesting, fermenting and drying cocoa beans. It is a trip back in time to the ancient cultures of the Mayas, Aztecs and other Central American people, where cocoa was used as a ceremonial drink and as currency. It is a tour full of Colonial and Caribbean pirate stories, aromas and degustation of the “food of the gods” bean-to-cup and bean-to-bar. You will be “hands on” tasting the cocoa fruit, roasting the beans, separating the husk, grinding the beans on the “metate” the indigenous way, and making different cocoa preparations. You will taste the cocoa beverage the pre-Columbian way (when milk and sugar were not available in the New World) and the colonial way. By the end of the activity you will enjoy the chocolate bars made during the workshop (70% dark chocolate).
Since there is no longer a commercial cocoa plantation in Tortuguero, cocoa fruits are supplied by an independent, organic cocoa farmer; and tempered chocolate is supplied by the Amazilia Women’s Association. This way we support local producers.

At the Caribbean cost fishing is consider pretty crazy due to while catching a silver king or either a tarpon is the ultimate dream for many fishermen there are many other species lurking in the river and ocean depths around ,snook mackerel, jack crevalle, snapper barracuda, on the river machaca, guapote mohara, pinto, tiger fish all of these river ones are consider piranhas relatives, the guides are proficient in both spin/plug casting and fly fishing methods ,we provide top-notch equipment , accurate TM reels, Shakespeare TM rods, and all best tackle for local fishery and safety equipment and drinks !!!
